Public transport in Hurghada and other types of transportation.

Hurghada is now no longer a small village, but a large tourist city. That is why it is important to know how to get from point A to point B. Today we’ll talk about how to get around Hurghada.

Route taxi (minibuses).

There are several different routes.

You can catch a taxi anywhere you see it. You must wave your hand, otherwise the driver will simply rush past you. There are no specific stops. Make sure to check if this car is traveling on your route.

Dahar - Kauser.

The route goes from the very center of Dahar, passes through the Sakkala square and then goes to the Kauser district, the final stop between the houses almost parallel to Old Duty Free Shop on Mamsha. The cost is 2.5-3 pounds.

Dahar - El Aheya.

The route begins on the main square in Dahar and continues to the end of El Aheya area. The cost is 2.5-3 pounds.

Sheraton (Sherry) - Cora area.

This route collects passengers near the beginning of Sherry Street from the Sheraton side, travels through Senzo Mall, then to the last hotels along the Sahl Hasheesh road. Cost 5 pounds.

Sakkala - Arabia.

The route starts at Sakkala Square and travels to the end of the Arabia area. The cost of 2 pounds.

There are a lot of minibuses, so there will be no problems with low-cost travel.

Taxi.

Bright orange-purple taxi cars are a kind of hallmark of Hurghada. Sneaky drivers scurry around, they are almost more than ordinary cars. Such a taxi can be found not only in the central areas of the city, but also in remote places, in the streets between the houses. You do not need to order such a taxi, just stop it with a wave of your hand. The most important thing is to agree on a price. Despite the fact that almost every taxi is obliged to equip a special counter, many taxi drivers unobtrusively cover the counter with a cap, hat or something else, in order to grab more money from tourists. If you know the approximate prices in the city, then you can agree on the price without a meter, but if you are still “floating” in prices, strongly ask the driver to turn on the meter. If the driver does not agree, you can let him go and wait for another taxi, which are many.

Applications for ordering a taxi.

If you don’t have a desire to “catch” a taxi, then there are excellent taxi services on-line, through the Careem or Uber application. A big plus of this method is guaranteed safety: you will be informed in advance of the driver’s name, what kind of car he has and the cost of the trip, and even the driver’s photo! It is very convenient, the main thing is to correctly set your location so that the driver finds you without any problems.

Boarding a taxi Careem 7.75 pounds, each kilometer from 3 to 5 pounds, depending on the time of day and workload of the service.

Boarding a taxi Uber 7 pounds, each kilometer from 3 to 5 pounds.

The prices for both services are almost identical. Also, these services can be paid with a Visa card, for this it is enough to bind it to your account.

Taxi service by phone.

Taxis can also be ordered the old fashioned way by calling one of the taxi call services. There are a great many similar services in Hurghada, but the most popular ones are listed below:

Buses to El Gouna.

Every tourist arriving in Hurghada is simply must visit El-Gouna.

How to get to this place?

Regular buses run every 20-25 minutes from the main square of Dahar.

The carrier company is GoBus. The last bus to El Gouna at midnight. Cost 10 pounds.

Senzo buses.

If you decide to go to the Senzo shopping center, then it is not necessary to overpay for a taxi. Wherever you are in the city, look around.

If you saw a bus stop called "Senzo mall" go to it and take a bus. There will be a schedule at the bus stop. The cost of such a trip is 10 pounds.

Finally, the most important tip: Be sure to exchange dollars for Egyptian pounds and always have trifle money with you. Many drivers “suddenly” lose ALL change when a foreigner gets in a taxi or minibus :)

Nevertheless, if you use Careem or Uber and the driver did not find change, can be put into your e-wallet at the application and used the next time.

Good luck!
